Are you ready to be introduced to an intricately spicy new groove? With the soul purpose of bringing good music to planet Earth, Christina LaRocca & Heavy Weather are blasting through the New York City music scene like an asteroid entering the atmosphere since 2006. To explain it in words isn’t easy, but you can imagine their sound as something like Amy Winehouse stuffed inside Muddy Water’s guitar while they jam out to Bob Marley and Joss Stone tunes. Their debut album “Miles of Mud” has been comfortably settling in the ears of listeners all around the globe since October 2008. Anyone that hears the album is impressed and loves the fact that they have genuine musical talent, which can be heard through their chord choices, soulful lyrics & vocals and a rhythm section that the harshest of critics can get down to. Lead by soulful vocals of Brooklyn native Christina LaRocca, Heavy Weather has grown and become something that can’t easily be compared to anything happening today. She is intelligent, sexy, and has a voice like no other. Her real sense of life is soothed by dreamy lyrics, soulful melodies, and enchanting harmonies that she sings with fellow composer and percussionist Dorian Lake. Heavy Weather’s guitar player, Carl Raymond Gallagher III, was born on the Mississippi Delta among the souls of some of the greatest blues players of our time and rings out with every note he plays. Heavy Weather recently won IAR’s Next Level Competition where they took home a $1,000 gift certificate to Discmakers and free recording time with Grammy winning Engineer, Dan Grigsby and Mario Salvati. Miss LaRocca is proud to say she is the first woman to ever win this competition.
