April is Herbiemans favorite month. Its the month he was born .On this month in 2003 he also arrived to Miami in the most unconventional way: in his sailboat. It took him 95 days to get to his final destination in order to pursue his musical dream Seven thousand miles behind was his musical past, his bands, his studio and the lonely Buenos Aires years. In 1993 his family moved to Miami and Herbieman stayed in his hometown Buenos Aires attending college and starting his musical experience. This new solitary stage was the base for his first serious compositions. He began playing in 2 bands during that period. In 1994 El Chelín, a Latin rock band with a huge following, that still plays some of Herbiemans compositions and later in 1996 he joined the well established Scherzo that became his main project until his departure from Argentina in 2003. During this time the band developed a big audience, released 4 albums and played in all the main venues in Buenos Aires and other cities of Argentina. MTV Latin America chose one of their videos and played it repeatedly in the year. This gave the band reach to a broader audience. In 2000 he also started a career in music production and established a recording studio where he produced countless upcoming artists in the local scene. He recorded over 20 projects that ranged from jazz, rock, pop, tango and folklore in only 2 years. He finally produced Scherzos last album with legendary producer Amílcar Gilabert that worked with all the big names in Latin Rock and Pop: Seru Girán, Charly Garcia, Mercedes Sosa, Leon Gieco, Divididos, 2 Minutos and Raul Di Blasio among others. During the big political and economic crisis in 2002 Herbieman decided it was time to make his long time trip true: sail to Miami with all his instruments. Before leaving he gathered all his experience and focused in recording his first solo album: Little Boy . He decided to make it the same way he came to Miami: by himself. He wrote the tunes, he played all the instruments, he sung, he produced and mixed. The result is a fabulous combination of rock, pop and jazz mixed in 12 catchy songs that remind the listener of the soft voice of John Mayer, the textures of Dave Matthews and the energy and strong attitude of early Lenny Kravitz. On January 5th, 2003 he left his beloved Buenos Aires to start his journey thru the Atlantic Ocean to arrive 95 days later to his new home in Miami. He prepared himself for this trip and the transition to his new life with lots of meditation and inner thought. After arriving in Miami, he started to promote his material in the local scene. He played in clubs, bars and local jams and open mike sessions. Wherever he could play music, he went. After a couple of moths his efforts paid off. He was hired to make the music for an independent film Mi Historia, My Culture by Chuchi Rivero, a local legendary filmmaker. He also composed music and did the musical direction for the behind the scenes documentary for that same film, produced by another director, Libby Moyer. In the meantime he kept playing, writing and sending Little Boy to all the music reviewers and labels to generate interest in his music. In late 2004 he sung the main theme for a big TV campaign that launched a new French car in Latin America. The song I wonder immediately became a big hit in Buenos Aires and everyone was trying to find out who this singer was. Few of them knew it was their own Herbieman. The song quickly hit the Airwaves and the producers of the commercial decided to put out a CD with that single and another song named Nothing to Hide that Herbieman recorded in Miamis best jingle studio Animal Music. This CD skyrocketed his musics popularity in his home country. Still Herbieman felt there was much to be done to help launch his career in the US. In a trip to LA he contacted legendary Rock / Hip Hop producer Ronnie King ( Tupac Shakur, Offspring, Snoop Dog, NOFX , etc ) in order to start working on his next album. King was immediately appealed by Herbiemans music. This collaboration will hopefully come to life in 2005 when Herbieman starts recording his second solo effort that will probably reflect his new life experiences and his growth as a singer songwriter. Be expecting for more. He is ready to deliver.
