Hello world. My name's Heidi Everett and I am the front woman and songmaker of HOTEL ECHO, an Aussie band with more buzz than an outback telegraph pole in a storm. Hello world. My name's Heidi Everett and I am the front woman and songmaker of HOTEL ECHO, an Aussie band with more buzz than an outback telegraph pole in a storm. I came up with the name HOTEL ECHO, because I have stayed a few times in a psyche hospital. It's like the EAGLES' famous line "You can check out but you can never leave." It just keeps coming back to haunt you. I define my creed to the Music Network for mental health, where a musician is often discovered in the ruins of a shattered life. My life asa a muso was sparked as a busker on the streets of Frankston, but I soon outgrew the confines of the shop doorways and dusty pavements. I'm also blessed to speak openly about living on the edge in a DVD about schizophrenia and mental health called 'Angels & Demons' by Oz's premium interviewer Andrew Denton (ABC)". I guess I try to compose music that is emotionally similar to classical music, yet completely accessable to everyone who hears it. My not-so secret trick is just simple catchy melodies that carry lyrics that speak directly to you without rhetoric or strange phrasing. In this ease of musicality, I enjoy performing at any iconic live music venues both as a member of the vibrantly diverse music network for mental health and also as a fully pledged independent member of the wider music scene. --- Recent major gigs include the International World Mental Health Conference, World's Longest Lunch, World Homeless Day, International Day of Disability. In January I was invited to speak to 200+ young women leaders and their sponsors at Lord & Lady Somers Camp in Victoria. Right now I am in the process of recording an album with Siiri Metsar (Armstrongs ex. Metropolis Studios) and am performing gigs with my band, Hotel Echo, including the astounding Phil Huezenroeder (Director of Melbourne Mass Gospel Choir: The Bipolar Bears: Club Wild Arts; MN4MN). www.mmgc.net.au
