About Janeen Leah
San Francisco, CA
Janeen Leah’s strong, yet beautiful voice has captured the attention of critics and fans alike. A self-taught guitarist, Janeen was writing music at a very young age and playing local coffeehouses in her hometown of Denver. At the age of 18, she headed for Hollywood to pursue her musical dream, perfecting her skills at Musicians Institute. There she recorded her debut EP, “Melting in Hazel.”
With her 2005 release “Time Is Never Wasted,” her first full length, self-produced album Janeen garnered rave reviews. It is a comprehensive work that deftly fuses rock with jazz, reflecting her wide range of musical tastes, which is confidently demonstrated in such songs as “Captured in My Own Mind” and “I Know.”
Influenced by a wide array of artists such as Heart, Michael Jackson, Billie Holiday and Muse. Janeen successfully blends sophisticated musical compositions with poignant lyrics. Janeen engages her audience with her blissful, dynamic performances, whether playing with a full band or in an intimate acoustic setting. Music Connection sums it up best,
“...pure, sweet, melodic vocals soared over a perfect blend of instruments as she performed each song, leaving the audience wanting more.”
In 2009, Janeen embarked on a journey that took her all the way to Bombay, India to record a collaborated album with Tushar Parte, a well-known Bollywood musician. This album is currently in production and release date is TBA.
Janeen was recently signed to indie label f.Boo! She and Producer Keven Brennan are currently recording Janeen's first release on the label. Keven produced the singles 'Rainy Day' and 'Calloused Heart', which has proven to be a thrilling match of artistry to have Janeen's music produced by Keven Brennan.
From Denver and Los Angeles to Bombay and now San Francisco, Janeen is well on her way to reaching new fans around the world.
