The Jacksonville, Florida based artist’s strength lies in his ability to see the proverbial “big picture” and aims to not only entertain the masses with his energetic, thought provoking brand of Hip-Hop, but to also stand as an example of what can be achieved through hard work, perseverance and sheer natural talent. He states, in part, “I want the music to put me in a position to create opportunities for those who have a dream that may not coincide with the status quo. I want to became a walking, talking success story without having to glorify trapping 24/7 to do it.” Having grown up primarily in Jacksonville, Florida aka Duval, Jay Steez has been shaped by his environment and credits Duval with crafting him into a “Southern Boi”. But his experience as a military kid also played a big part in his development, as he was exposed to many different people and cultures at a young age as he and his family moved and traveled throughout the world. Those experiences helped Jay Steez see things on a larger scale and to not be content with staying inside the box in life and in music.
