When it comes to talent, there is not much dedication put into today's music art-form. However, Jeff Joseph "b.k.a." Jey-Icy, stressed that true dedication is still alive through his catalog of music. Born on February 2, 1989 in Stamford, CT and coming from a family of three older brothers and an older sister, Icy and his siblings were passionately influenced in music with a strong interest in the entertainment industry. Growing up in numerous project neighborhoods and shelters, Icy has witnessed the harsh realities around his community and used music as a scapegoat to better himself. With Icy being influenced by favorites such as The Notorious B.I.G, The Fugees, Mase, Mobb Deep, Fabolous, and his all time favorite, Styles P, he started off freestyling rhymes at the age of fourteen and later enjoyed experimenting his freestyles with different beats. Afterwords, producing became an interest within his music and then later decided to create beats as well, which at a point became his main focus. As time went by, individuals would become interested with his lyrical art and started listening to him freestyle more and more. People then would encourage Jey-Icy to pursue more on rapping and less focus on producing music. Once Icy became more comfortable with his lyrical talent, he started to make his own songs in 2008. Now at the age of twenty, he came to realize that not only music is what he loves to do, but he also learned that nothing stood out more to him than the music entertainment lifestyle. With the support of his family and friends, he made it his determination to be part of the rapid growth of the music world. By attending the Institute of Audio Research in Manhattan, New York, Icy gains knowledge and techniques that helps him to be a better producer and also to expand his skills as a music artist. He has been taught the accumulation of new sounds that he is now able to combine with his artform. Icy has put in his new brand skills and techniques of knowledge on the entertainment industry to use in fashion shows in the Bronx, New York, performances at nightclub 5 Senses in New Haven, CT, Hot 97 showcases in New York City, and soon in his upcoming performance at a fashion show in Rhode Island. As a Haitian and Dominican young man, who believes that he will be known in the near future for his talent, creativity, and versatility, Icy claimed he has more to offer to the music industry with his unique style, and his ability to open up a whole new market for the music world just alone with his nationality. No other Haitian artists has made a major impact on the music world other then the Fugees. Icy felt that needed to change now that he was approaching the music world. With that being said, Jey-Icy will now pursue a major role to become the next Hip Hop legacy within the history of music, and he says in his exact words, "I will not put the torch down for my success until I cross that line of Greatness"
