Jonathan Knight; born on September 15, 1986 has been progressively perfecting his craft so it can be showcased to many. With his musicality of smooth beats and sultry tones it is no wonder how Jonathan Knight (JK), is turning the focus of pop music and taking the spotlight.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, JK has always had his heart in the music industry. “Music is my life; it’s always in me, it’s all I’ve ever known” says JK. He has dedicated all of his life to pursuing music as a career. Throughout his childhood he was always involved in activities such as talent shows and various bands, to further enhance his talents and passion. JK started producing then gradually started rapping and singing. He felt in order to truly be successful he had to learn all there was in the music industry. He did not stop there, throughout his school years not only did he learn the xylophone, and saxophone, but he was also in the drum core at Washington High School. After these accomplishments, JK decided it was time to focus on his career path and take a leap of faith.
In 2005, JK formed a rap group called “The Real West.” Though unsuccessful, JK decided to reevaluate his music and the message being conveyed. Rapping about gangster issues was not where he anticipated his music to be heading. Redirecting his focus, JK started rapping about real life issues; such as hardships and women. JK feels people need something they can relate to. If people can’t relate to your music then you are not doing something right and it makes it difficult to leave an impression. “Nobody sounds like me, no one can stop me,” says JK, “I mainly want people to hear good quality music.”
Many people doubted JK’s success and his ability to pull through as an artist. With few supporters, JK persevered with the support of his mother, Sheron Knight. “I knew he had something special, he was always making beats early in the morning” said Mrs. Knight, “I knew right then, that he had a talent and nothing was going to stop him.”
Currently signed to Nu Entertainment, his dedication and perseverance speaks for itself. JK is a force to be reckoned with and is certain he is ready to take over the music industry.
