Depending on the venue, Angelo will either appear in traditional cowboy or in contemporary rock attire, always donning the cowboy hat and boots as part of the lifestyle he says "has inspired me to write like I do. I've dressed like a cowboy all my life. From the ages of 10-14, I worked on my uncle's small farm tending sheep, goats and horses. I learned how to ride at age 10, and I put myself on a rodeo bronc when i was 17, turning 18. and i kept it up for 5 years. So far, I been living the life of a cowboy and I'll keep it up long as I can." Early years - Present Joe Angelo Gallegos was born July 10, 1988, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Larry B. Gallegos, Public Information Officer for Bernalillo County Fire Department, and Isabelle Anita (Moreno), a dental assistant. His love for music stems from his father who was the Sunday morning service choir director at his church, his aunt (mother's youngest sister), a keyboardist in local bands such as Tierra Luna, and from his maternal grandfather who also played guitar. At age 10, Gallegos taught himself how to play guitar and started assisting his father at church in the choir by age 12. At age 15, Gallegos started playing in garage bands as a bass player and occasional drummer. Angelo graduated from St. Pius X High School, in Albuquerque, New Mexico,[10] studied for 2 years at Central New Mexico Community College and graduated with certificates in Carpentry and Electrical Trades. Along the way, met Kathryn Soapes through manager and long time friend Andres Trujillo becoming her songwriting partner and lead guitarist. Even though the songs failed to chart, he wrote Soapes first songs "Wrong Number" and "Draw the Line". Angelo has played in venues around the central New Mexico area and frequently accompanies Kathryn Soapes and manager Andres Trujillo. In September 2010, Angelo signed on with The Crew, a local dj/performance group in the fashion of Radio Disney, featuring many performers from former, now defunct, Radio Disney. Working as soundman and DJ, Angelo also performs his own material as Kate's opening act and sometimes as the headliner.
