Joel “NR” Powell is a DJ, Recording Artist, Author and Entrepreneur who serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of NR Entertainment Incorporated. He graduated from one of Canada’s most prestigious College, Humber College. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Mr. Powell grew up in the Ghettos of Jane & Finch and later moved to the community of Rexdale. Facing various harsh conditions did not hinder his goals but rather allowed him to overcome obstacles and shine even greater( accomplish his goals). During most of his teenage life he witnessed the violence & crime of the ghetto and what it can lead to. Being raised by immigrant parents, Mother (Trinidadian) & Father (Jamaican), he found his passion through the roots of his family in the form of music. Currently Mr. Powell has written a highly descriptive and definitive book entitled Black Empowerment & Minority Issues, it serves as a guideline to not only help minorities but those who are facing the struggles and the impairments of everyday life. Each chapter plays a distinct role in an individual’s growth and awareness towards both their personal and business ambitions. Issues such as creating & building family success, seeking your passions over employment, & respecting as well as understanding the law are all written based on plaguing situations that exist daily in minority communities. This book is the first out of many forthcoming publications from NR Entertainment Incorporated.
