But we digress! Based in Long Beach, Ca., JOHNNY,MARK and the RICKS were fortunate to have been exposed to a variety of musical styles in their lifetimes, including rockabily,surf rock, British Invasion, the Hippie stuff, the Sunset Strip scene, punk rock and alternative rock
Individually, the members of the band have extensive musical backgrounds. Rick "Frankie Ennui" Whitney was a founding member of the influencial and quirky 80's band SUBURBAN LAWNS amd was songwriter on their radio hits "Gidget Goes To Hell" and "Janitor". Ricky "McDrummitt" McDermott was a founding member of the "new wave" band TUX DENTIST and they had a successful run in the LA, SoCal scene with their live show and the single "T.V.Movie". After a youthful tutoring with the INKSPOTS, Mark, "Sharki" Handley has thumped bass for several SoCal bands. Johnny, "JJ" Delray has too many hobbies, being involved with the Hawaiian language slack key band NA LOLO MAU MALAHINI (THE CRAZY TOURISTS) and the High Desert big sky western musings of J. TREE and the FLYING LIZARDMEN.
JOHNNY,MARK and THE RICKS would LOVE to tell you that our goal is to spread our unique music and artistic vision to EVERYONE for world peace, a place in the "rock god" pantheon and big bucks. But, in reality, we just want to have fun on stage and make good original music.Oh and sell some CD's
