Florida native, Jill Everett tipped toed her way through the musical door at the age of five. Ad Jill’s voice quietly shined behind closed doors, the music world’s door had been welcomingly open for her entire life. Her father Clifford Hart owned one Fort Myers HOT SPOTS CALLED “The High Hat”. The High Hat hosted many musical geniuses like Al Green and Betty Wright. With their and many other performances Jill was introduced to her first love, MUSIC. Coyly she tried to conceal the harmonic soulful notes that meditated throughout her body. However, like all things, her musical talent was brought to light. Jill’s cousin would be the first of many to become hypnotized by Jill’s voice. She accidently stumbled on the little songbird gleefully belting out beautiful notes of harmonic bliss. And from that happy accident she became Jill’s first audience and duet partner. There should be no surprise that Jill’s first solo was the song, “Woman to Woman” by Betty Wright. They carried on their private shows without anyone knowing including Jill’s parents. “I went all through Elementary and Middle School, holding a secret. A little girl with a voice but without a name, waiting to explode but was too shy to come out with it.” (Jill Everett) The dynamite was lit and in her freshman year of high school, Jill finally exploded. She had joined the choral program and in one twist of uncomfortable fate Jill’s choir director called her to the stage. To her director’s and classmates’ surprise the shy, no name girl had a voice that could melt butter and bloom roses. Needless to say Jill was rewarded with the lead vocals in that song, beating out three upperclassmen. Jill’s love for singing skyrocketed after that. Her vocals cascaded across the hearts of her peers throughout her school years. Jill had a name and little did she know that at Edison Community College would be a defining moment in her life. “Intelligence plus character- That is the true goal of education.” (Dr. Martin Luther King) At Edison Jill performed in her first talent show. This was nothing short of a volcanic eruption of destructive miracles. In the middle of her performance Jill hit a bad note and walked off the stage. Nerves had been battling her and they were on the brink of victory. The audience would not let that happen. The crowd’s swords of chanting to come back and finish induced strength for Jill far more powerful than her nerves. And she came back on stage not wanting to walk away with regrets. Jill put her heart on that stage and in turn won first place. “There must be something about my voice that people like to hear.” (Jill Everett) That statement was as true then as it is today. Her performance venues have expanded over the horizons. She performs at some of the most frequented hot spots in Orlando, Pleasure Island (Disney) and JJ Whispers. Not to mention singing at weddings, schools, parties and Country Clubs. She had also opened for musicians in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. And is now working on her first album. Jill’s song will never be secretly locked away again. Her hard work and perserverance is shooting her to new heights. Living in Orlando, Florida now, Jill is no longer the shy little songbird from Fort Myers, singing to a one person audience. She is the female symphony’s musical overtures sinfully soulful muse of harmonic masterpieces. Jill Everett is a rising star delivering her essence of life through her gift of song.
