K. Green started loving the art of music as a child. Growing up in North Carolina, he was exposed to different types of music ranging from old school Motown to the newest Jay-Z records. He grew fond of all the stories and images that were portrayed throughout their lyrics. At the age of 12, K. Green developed a love for writing and taking the lyrics from other artists' songs and revising them to make them his own. When he was 14, he would then take his lyrics and record them over various industry beats on a tape recorder. It wasn't until he met up with his older cousin Arthur Hartley that he was introduced to the craft of laying verses in the studio. Hartley acted as a mentor and help K. Green learn how to define himself through his rhymes. He learned to use his writing as a tool to escape from whatever trials and tribulations that would surface.
