BEHIND THE MUSIC Kid Carre, (born Erik Carr)was born on the east side of Oakland, CA September 25th 1984, weighing in at 7 pounds 4 ounces at Kaiser Hospital. He was and is his mothers,(Ethel) second born but only son and his fathers,(Kenny)only child. Kid Carre has an older sister which is 4 years older. Richelle,(name of sister)would always play loud rap music around him when he was only 7 years old.Listening to the likes of Eazy-E, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Dr.Dre, and NWA to name a few. Carre found himself interested in rapping along with the music while he was alone. At 9 years old he learned that super producer extraordinaire Dr.Dre was his cousin on his mothers side of the family. Coming to know that, he seriously thought about becoming a rapper. At his family reunion in 1995, Dr.Dre showed up and performed a few songs for the family, and Carre got on the stage and was a background dancer along with all his other little cousins. Later that day, him and his family went to Dre’s house and Carre broke his screen door thinking the sliding door and screen were open. Till this day Dr.Dre remembers him for that. Fast forward to his early teenage years, by this time him, his mother and sister moved to Modesto, CA.While in junior high at Roosevelt, Carre would make beats on the lunch tables by using pencils, forks, cups etc..Having freestyle sessions with the other kids at lunch, Carre was the best out of everyone. By him being the best, that made him popular with the teachers and even more popular with the girls. As far as school work went, he never got any good grades because being in class all he would do is write rhymes and daydream about being a big rap star like his cousin Dr.Dre. High School was pretty much the same way. Except he got expelled from Davis High School for fighting, was sent to Elliott Continuation and got expelled from there for fighting as well. After getting expelled from the school district Carres mother sent him to go to job corps in Utah.At 17 he would go to be on his own, 400 miles away to get his HS diploma and certification for Auto Body Mechanics. There he met a fat white kid by the name of Mark Brewer from Iowa who made beats on fruity loops. Carre starting making beats on it and started his music career from there. Kid Carre has upgraded from fruity loops to a full home recording studio and is now on his way to becoming a local legend.
