Kristi showed an early love for singing like many young girls. Her parents would often take her to her grand parents house and ask her to sing a familiar song for them. She would hop up on a brick hearth and start singing. The song coming out of her mouth would never be the one she was asked to sing. She would always make up her own lyrics as she was singing. Most often about frogs or horses or things 3 year olds think about. This habit always disappointed her parents but she was very stubborn about singing her own songs from a very early age. When Kristi was about 12 or 13, she picked up an old unused guitar of her mother's that was lying around the house. She did not know how to play but began using it to write songs for plays that her friends would put together. She had invented her own method for playing the guitar. She would tune each open string to play a note that she liked and use her fingers to deaden the strings that she did not want to play as she strummed the guitar. It looked and sounded like she was playing the guitar! Kristi wrote many songs using this guitar playing style. Eight were eventually selected by Tate Music Group to publish. In July 2009 her album "Emotions" was released. Kristi's early success at recording an album inspired her to keep working hard. She began playing a new guitar correctly and picked this skill up very quickly on her own. She continued to write her own songs while getting small local gigs at fundraisers, festivals, coffee houses, farm markets and restaurants. She gained valuable on stage experience and confidence. Kristi is now 15 years old and a sophmore in high school. Her performance is a combination of contemporary covers by current stars such as Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Beyonce, etc and her own original songs.
