Biography

“Find another band that does what we do.”  That has been the philosophy of Lucky 13 (A.K.A. L-13) since it was created almost seven years ago. “We’re always looking for that ‘wow’ factor,” said Colin Jennison, lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and keyboardist.  “Whether it’s our lights, or our video sequencing, or our material; we just want to give something more back to the audience.  Once we get their attention we never let it go.” Lucky 13 was originally formed in 2003...

Once we get their attention we never let it go.” Lucky 13 was originally formed in 2003 by two former members of the band.  A set list of primarily alternative rock music made a big impression on the local live music scene, but there needed to be more direction.  It wasn’t until Colin came aboard and became the new lead singer that the band really began to take off. With new material and the addition of Jason Taylor on lead guitar and Alex Jennison on bass, the band was finally complete.  There band now had four members with one common goal, to take the live music scene by storm and become one of the best bands in the world. In 2007 Lucky 13 decided to tribute Coldplay, one of the biggest bands to hit the music scene in the past decade.  Coldplayers hit the stage for their first performance in March of 2008 at Healy’s Roadhouse in Toronto, opening for the international U2 tribute, Elevation.  Videos of the event were posted to the internet where the band has received more than 2.5 million hits on youtube.  In less than two years, Coldplayers have toured extensively, performing in New York City, Cleveland, OH, Bermuda, Honduras, Mexico and Italy. To set themselves apart from other bands, Lucky 13 invested thousands of dollars into their stage show adding intelligent lighting, lasers, strobes, and flashers.  The band also began to travel with their own flat panel TVs, which displayed popular videos, turning a regular bar into a video nightclub.  The band quickly rose to the top of the cover band music scene. With more than five years of live performance behind them, Lucky 13 started working on their own original material in the summer of 2009.  “We have four very different musical backgrounds bringing ideas to the table,” Colin said.  “It’s going to be very exciting to see where those backgrounds take us.” Lucky 13 plan to have their first album out by the summer of 2010.
