Laserz began with three guys in Austin, Texas who had no musical direction or purpose except to learn how to play their instruments well and be ok playing in front of people. The drummer left to go play with another band and Laserz picked up another drummer and guitarist who were brothers and already friends. Most recently Laserz is returning from a hiatus re-evaluating their musical direction. John and Todd are continuing with Laserz with the addition of a new drummer, Guillermo, bringing it back to a more eclectic three piece combination. Not only have they learned how to play music in front of people, they are achieving a cult-like following who have watched the progression of Laserz through some terrible shows that make one feel as if they are staring at a horrible car accident to fully packed, crazy, loud, sweaty shows. Laserz is truly a life of it's own with a human soul that runs deep. Laserz is not for the weak-minded person searching for emo-screamo and/or beach style acoustic sounds. It is for people who grew up on Butthole Surfers, Devo, Rage Against the Machine, Beck, The Pixies, Modest Mouse, dysfunctional latchkey kid homes, too much sugar, skateboarding, school behavior problems, and hours of Nintendo per day. What others have said about Laserz: 979represent.com says: “Austin bizarro lo-fi slacker-synth indie pop.” Kill Red Rocket Records says: “Spacey electro punk with buzzing synths and lo-fi atmospherics.” Austin Chronicle on recommended shows at the The Hole In the Wall said: “Noise boys assault.”
