13 Seconds Shy formed in late 2006 by singer/songwriter Brian Moyer and bassist Chris Walter during a tour in Iraq for support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. 13 Seconds Shy formed in late 2006 by singer/songwriter Brian Moyer and bassist Chris Walter during a tour in Iraq for support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Forming originally under the name RSR, Brian and Chris started writing songs together in their free time. At the beginning of 2007, Brian and Chris started jamming with Josh Tibbs, who was also deployed in Iraq. They started playing shows on base and at the request of fans began recording some of the material they had written. The product was an all acoustic album titled "12 Year Session". When returning home in September of 2007, the band decided to hang up the acoustic guitars and try to achieve its success with "12 Year Session" electrically. With an ad placed in the local music stores, the trio acquired the missing piece to their new sound, Neil Moran a drummer from the area answered the add. Neil's solid Metal background brought a new angle to the new sound that RSR hoped to achieve. After a few months, Josh took a break and was replaced at lead guitar by Jeremy Yeatts. Jeremy, a former band member of Neil's, came with high recommendation for the vacant lead position. Jeremy's classical guitar and metal background gave the edge to the new material that they had all been looking for. With the addition of Jeremy, the band felt that the style of sound had changed so much that a new name should be the next order of business. With much thought, the band chose 13 Seconds Shy. Shortly there after, Josh returned to the line up to play rhythm guitar thus freeing up Brian Moyer to deliver a very enthusiastic live show. The band is currently in the studio recording material for an album due to be released in August of 2008. The band is also currently booking shows for mid-summer and into the fall of 2008.
