Livin Proof received the Lord in 1998. He was in a Christian based program called the Nurture House, where the Pastor and founder was Douglas Ross. The program’s purpose was to help drug addicts and ex jail offenders start a new life for themselves. After one month, he was sent to the Elam House in Lynchburg, Virginia where Dr. Jerry Fallwell is the Pastor. Everyone in the program had various jobs to perform. Livin Proof’s job was to wash clothes. One particular day the washing machine and dryer were banging against each other, and they made a nice rhythm. The more he listened to it, the more rhythm he noticed. Livin Proof began reading his bible and he started rapping the words to the rhythm of the washing machine and dryer. That was the birth of Gospel Rap into his life. He didn’t think of being a Gospel Rap Artist until that day, nor had he ever rapped when he was unsaved. Now that’s what you call Divine Intervention. The first project he did was titled, “A Call to the Wild”. The first four songs on this project were written in that laundry room in LynchburgWhat his ministry had done Livin Proof has appeared several times on the hit CBS gospel talk show Focus on Black Religious Life. He was on 1540 AM Rejoice Radio on the New Artist Showcase with Jamilla Joy. He also has received an award at the Timbrel Records Gospel Music Awards in 2001, for being a new artist. Not only is he an artist and songwriter, he has also produced with Five Fold Records. He produced (P.O.P) Prophets of Praise, a young upcoming gospel rap group that was artist of the week on 1540 AM Rejoice Radio. His 2005 Song Right or Left hit the Christian Rap charts at number 29. Of course he loves to see people dancing and enjoying themselves. However, his main focus is leading souls to Christ, and helping people change their lives. Also being an example for young people to follow. Music is an avenue to get the gospel of Jesus Christ into the hearts of people and since Livin Proof is concerned about people’s lives he is a great advocate to promote the love of Christ to every generation. His desire is to set free the captives that are bound to drugs and alcohol, and to preach life into dead situations, to be a walking testimony, and to show that God can use anybody and anything. In this day and time music is beginning to have a more and more violent content, however Livin Proof wants to bring a breath of fresh air into rap. He believes that all artist, gospel and secular alike have a responsibility to their impressionable listeners, and they must all set a moral standards. He always says, “if one million people are getting ready to hang on to your every word, what are you going to tell them? Your words will have some effect on their lives, because music is more than just communing and communicating. He thinks rap should solve problems, not start them. That’s why he does gospel rap. What can be expected in the future? He has start his own record label. Actually, his current projects “Final Chapter and Resurrection” are under his unofficial label “Christ Like Records.” He is endeavoring to take his ministry to Europe and Japan. However, Richmond, Virginia is his focus point. He is also participating in talks with the group Mayja Prophetz that he is in. They are reuniting to do one last project. It will be blessed.
