Biography

Hip-hop has always spoken for the voiceless in one way or another, but nowadays with the glitz and glamour of today's industry there seems to be fewer and fewer people speaking for your everyday hip-hop lover. Sure there are your “real” tales of street life, but what if you're day-to-day experiences aren't so hardcore? What if you're struggles are more about how to live the best life you can for you and yours…the right way? Born in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City, this...

Born in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City, this 20-something artist moved around quite a bit as the son of a military, single mother who came from humble beginnings. This lifestyle took him on an award tour from NYC to Japan with stops in Texas, England, Florida, and South Carolina. It was in Japan where Loot, the artist, was born. After finishing his stint as a military brat, he honed both his rap skillz and book smarts at the University of Virginia. In 2007 LOOT has gained tremendous momentum, and in 2008 he is sure to make his mark and shake up the industry. He recently caught the attention of Burnitdown Music Group (BMG), the marketing and promotion arm of Eminem’s Shady Records. Now currently managing LOOT, BMG originally “discovered” him through myspace and were instantaneously captivated by his song writing capabilities and enormous stage presence. With the combination of LOOT’s hard work, dedication, and Burnitdown Music Group’s immense connections…his music is sure to go the distance. His current project is being overseen by Executive Producer/engineer Zezo One (Hevy Metal Fam) and by LOOT himself, proving that he is a true artist and more than just a rapper. LOOT is also working with some of the biggest producers in the game such as Needlz (50 Cent), Devo Harris (Kanye West), & Rich Nice (Mary J. Blige, Nas). With names like these behind him, LOOT's first project is guaranteed to be something special. Outside of the studio, his presence continues to be felt on stage, radio, and through multimedia. LOOT recently opened for Warner Bros. recording artist Talib Kweli, Atlantic Records’ Little Brother, performed at the 2007 Winter Music Conference in Miami, and at Sean John's Spring party in Chicago. You can also find him blessing the stages of New York City's finest venues showcasing the next generation of music superstars (The Apollo, Joe's Pub, S.O.B's). As a featured artist on Hip-Hop Uncensored DVD Vol. 7, he was featured alongside The Black Eyed Peas, Snoop Dog, Ghostface, Ice Cube, and many more. His music has also been felt on the airwaves of the influential U.S. & Canadian college radio circuit. While he is a humble man, LOOT walks and talks with a certain swagger that shows there's no doubt he will soon be competing with some of the game's top acts. “I want to sell millions of records, but I won't be untrue to myself to do so. I like to say I want to keep it 'conscious but commercial'.” “Conscious but commercial”…enough said? AbsuLOOT-ly!
