She considers herself the quintessence of R&B/Pop/Neo-Soul, and graciously illuminates any stage she performs on. Currently 18 years old, she understands that there are many obstacles in her life that she will overcome through the power of music. Her name is Lynda Starr. Growing up in a single parent household in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, NY, Starr has encountered many great, exciting, and also some troublesome experiences in her life. At the tender age of 3, Starr began singing various songs she would hear on the radio, but later recognized that it would be something she could pursue as a career. Starr began writing songs at 8 years old, never realizing that those songs could possibly become top-ten hits on the Billboard charts. Lynda Starr's first song, entitled "You R The Cause of My Hardship", was a cool, mellow, jazz/hip-hop song which involved emotions of pain, anguish, and sorrow. In 2002, it was all fate when she purchased her Songwriter's Journal, which helped progress her songwriting skills. Within that journal, she penned songs such as "I Must Have Been Crazy","Get Da Steppin'", "Give It to Me", and so much more. Lynda Starr grasps her inspiration from God, her single mother, and many artists such as Mary J. Blige, Beyonce, Monica, Brandy, and Alicia Keys. All of these artists inspire her in their own special way. "Whenever I feel sad or frustrated, I convey my thoughts not only through tears, but through my music and poetry as well.", Starr explains. "I want to embody all genres of music into my own sound, because I am truly a versatile artist." Starr quickly obtained her name from her motto, "A star that shines so bright in the sky has great detail and beauty that cannot be overseen by a cloud." Starr is highly acknowledged in her community, and engages in several activities including the Brooklyn High School of the Arts Performing Choir, and St. Therese of Lisieux Junior Choir. She has received many accolades from state officials such as NYS Senator Kevin Parker, and Marty Markowitz, and has performed at numerous venues including The Haitian Flag Day Celebration at City Hall, the Riverside Church, Carnegie Hall, and Brooklyn College. Far from a typical teenager, Lynda Starr indeed has the capability to produce music that everyone can relate to, and music that people can be motivated by. She truly possess star quality, and is determined to make her mark in the music industry and claim her throne as the Princess of R&B.
