Biography

Mad September is a Fort Collins, Colorado-based rock band that blends the ironic, and often times, tragic nature of life with the melodic crunch of guitar-centric rock. It’s name reflects the lyrical content of its music – part psychosis and rage painted through the changing seasons where rebirth and death lurk at the margins. And this isn’t some flaccid marketing ploy either, they’ve lived it. Formed in September 2007 by drummer Cisco Romero, the four piece quickly assembled its debut EP entitled “She’s A Sin,” which was released in March 2008. By late spring, the EP was noticed by the producers of several reality TV shows and licensed thereafter. The track “One Less” appeared in episode 11 of MTV’s “The Real World: Hollywood in June 2008. The band’s reputation for energetic, fist-pumping live shows spread throughout the Front Range music scene of Colorado, leading to an impressive number of gigs in a very short period of time. But life inside and outside a band is a messy affair and by Spring 2009, the original line-up had weathered a divorce, internal bickering, and a near-canceled showcase gig. The band’s original lead singer was ousted in April 2009 and the band began the slow process of rebuilding. Original lead guitarist and co-founder, Ryan Gaudie decided to exit the band by summer to pursue other projects. Mad September consists of founder and drummer Cisco Romero, Tim Hallmark on bass guitar, Bob Doughty on lead guitar and Dillon McDonald covering lead vocal and rhythm guitar. The member’s individual influences are many, ranging from 80’s hard rock and metal, to more modern hard-hitting acts like the Foo Fighters. Critics have described Mad September’s music as: “It’s the fun side of rock ‘n roll to often overshadowed by the glitz and glamour of pop.” – Loveland Reporter-Herald “Mad September has a nice blend of sounds of the past and present,....it should be interesting to see where they go from here.” – The Coloradoan “…featuring guitar and bass lines likable to Buckcherry…[She’s A Sin]…”the title track, a made-for-radio single.” – Scene Magazine While its lyrics refuse to sugarcoat the bumps and bruises life hands them, Mad September’s music is above all a melodic escape to the weekend where you forget about your problems, crack open a beer and dance your ass off with friends.
