I am Masta Artisan. I've been listening to Hip Hop since the late nineties (but since I didn't listen to radio and I didn't know about MTV, the only thing I knew about Hip Hop were the albums my mom had (is my age showing yet?), such as Run-DMC, Digital Underground, Slick Rick, Dana Dane, and other 80's rappers. Swiftly afterwards, I wanted to start rapping myself, getting in an afterschool program that had a class for beat-making. I would mostly get my influence for writing songs from the Wu Tang Clan, Run-DMC and Gorillaz and would even sample and remix Gorillaz and Wu Tang songs to add my own flavor to them. Eventually, I would start creating my own lyrical style and started making albums. I'd rather not talk about my terrible first two albums (hey, I was learning, okay?!?!) but "Starving Artist, Hungry Emcee" was the first album where I broke out with my completely new style and people started taking notice (all 12 of them...). After that, I wanted to make a concept album about opposites, where 5 songs would be about 5 different topics that were mostly satirical, and the other 5 would focus on the opposite feelings or situations. That album, "Polarity Switc" was praised (by 24 people this time!) as being a definite evolution of my style and just being plain better than my last one. Then... uh... well, that's about all that's happened with my rap career so far.
