Mike Dubose and the Dissidents were formed in Austin, Texas in 2006. Currently, The Dissidents are comprised of songwriter/vocalist/guitarist Dubose, bassist Diana Bruschke, guitarist Gary Bobo and bassist-at-large/consigliere Bill Teags MIKE DUBOSE was born in Liberty, Texas. He moved to Austin at age 6 and started playing guitar at 13. His influences during his teens ranged from Guns N Roses, The Sex Pistols, The Beatles, Metallica and Nirvana to Johnny Cash and Townes Van Zandt. He formed Missing Ingredient in 1996. The band opened up for such acts as Son Volt, Elliott Smith, Foo Fighters, Wilco and Yo La Tengo. Missing Ingredient released the CD "Consolation Prize" in 1999. It garnered positive reviews, radio play and solid sales. Missing Ingredient dissolved in 2000 and Mike went on to do solo performances and record. He’s shared the stage with many artists, including Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, James McMurtry and Tish Hinojosa. DIANA BRUSCHKE is a founding member of Mike Dubose and The Dissidents. Diana was born and raised in Hillegom, The Netherlands, moved to New Orleans in 1989 and to Austin, Texas in 1993. She started playing bass at 22 but was recording on major releases shortly thereafter. She played with Susan Voelz, Do It Now Foundation, Swine King, Posh (in the UK) and did an international tour with Lisa Germano. GARY BOBO grew up in Abilene Texas and became involved with music at an early age. At the age of 10, he began playing violin, and at 14 moved to Austin and switched to guitar. After high school, he played in a variety of rock, punk and blues bands, soaking up the influences of his favorite artists and honing his skills. He cut his teeth playing in the bars and clubs in and around Austin. Most recently he played with Cattle Guard, Getting Even, and Tree Climbing Crap Flingers. BILL TEAGS is The Dissidents bassist-at-large and consigliere. Due to an unexpected job relocation, Bill currently resides out-of-state. While he waits to return to Austin, Bill has taken on a managerial role within The Dissidents. Additionally, Bill's is playing bass on the forthcoming record, along with co-producing the CD with fellow bassist Roscoe Beck. A Colorado native who grew up in Chicago playing jazz, fusion and rock, Bill brings up the bottom end with electric and acoustic bass. Bill has been touring and recording for more than 35 years: He played his first paid gig at age 14 with the Bill Bunge Trio, appeared on his first recording two years later at Pumpkin Studios in Chicago, and did his first major tour with The Hounds at 20. Bill has opened for/co-billed with bands such as Styx, Cheap Trick, REO Speedwagon and Kansas. and has performed with artists such as Muddy Waters, Maynard Ferguson, Stan Kenton and Drew Emmitt of Leftover Salmon. Additionally. Bill plays French horn, trombone, and is classically trained in piano and organ. Mike Dubose and the Dissidents first CD, “Fort Benning Blues”, will be released on Rogue State Records in 2011, with a national tour to follow.
