Coming from a background of classical Music, Neil Champine first formed a band with his brother on drums and best friend on bass guitar and sharing the vocals. With influences heavy in rock legends such as Led Zeppelin, and a love of Alice in Chains and other 90's rock, and brought together by a post-grunge selection (their favorite of which being Hoobastank), they had quite the unique sound. However, as the group grew together in experience, talent, and tightness they also grew up. So Mark Nalley, the afformentioned bass player, joined the Navy thus ending his tenure with the group and prompting them to change their name. This is when they discovered Ronnie Crady, an energetic, excited, talented new face from the west side. He tried out and quickly fell in love with the music, and they took him under their wing just as quickly. He was to become the bass player they'd always needed, as well as the object for female adoration in the band. They would remain Mind Petrol from this point forward. Finally, Cris Champine, the prodigal brother grew weary with the difficult life of a musician and moved on to bigger and better things; going to college and pursuing a career outside of the musical profession. This left the remaining members in need of a drummer for some time. They searched high and low for that missing link, the one who would complete their sonic assault onstage, and be an addition to their not-quite-sane antics offstage. At last, via the chance reading of a lone craigslist post that was spotted by a friend of a friend of a friend's ex-fiance's cousin's classmate, while searching for lost poodles, they happened upon a man name Kyle Haywood who possesed the testicular fortitude and percusionistic mojo necessary to create the mythic and famed Stand Out Rock that Mind Petrol is known for today.
