In this day and age only so much can be said for talent and potential. When you combine a true passion for what you do and hard work with those two elements, that’s when you get the possibility for someting truely special. Despite being young, More Like The Movies knows this well and has already started using all 4 of these elements to make a life long dream come true. Coming from all corners of Minnesota, the members of More Like The Movies met and formed in Minneapolis in early 2009. After bringing their talents together, they took off to Long Island to record their debut EP “It’s A Risque Business” with producer Mike Watts (As Tall as Lions, The Almost) and came back with 5 songs that they were proud of. Says singer Cole Kircher, ”We all were really impressed with what Mike (Watts) did with our songs from start to finish but we felt like we had 5 really good songs, not a complete record.” With work still needing to be done they contacted local producer Izaac Burkhart. “Izaac really gave a different feeling to our sound with the what he did”, explains Cole. “The 2 songs we did with Izaac rounded out the album and truely made it a record that anyone can relate to, whether you’re broken hearted, pissed off, or in love, it’s life compacted into 30 minutes of music” With their EP in hand, they took off to California to meet up with the Vans Warped Tour. “It was definitely the most exciting and satisfying month of my life,” explains bassist Ryan Elke “Every day you got to meet music lovers just like you, while listening and meeting your favorite bands. It was almost surreal at times” After 6 blown tires and 15000 miles traversed, The gentlemen had met thousands of kids while selling nearly 3000 copies of their CD. With another EP scheduled to be released fall and an acoustic EP on the way, More Like The Movies is poised to make a huge “splash” onto the national stage and into your stereos. “We’re putting every ounce of our hearts into this next record,” says Cole Kircher. With a full touring schedule planned for the spring, summer and fall, they plan to prove that hard work and passion do pay off. “Countless people have told us to give up, especially when we have lossed band members so we’re really just waiting for the day that everything comes together and we can prove to them, but mostly to ourselves that all the hard work we’ve put into this will be worth it, no matter how long it takes.”
