Dubbed ‘Real-Bigg’, West London planted producer Murray Biggs sustains the name is not a tough act to follow. As an ever-improving 22-year-old, there are much more than winkle-pickers and a p. coat to meet the eye. Biggs is not r&b nor hip-hop, pop or dance; ‘Bigg’ is all of these, superfluously fused. Already, Murray has audaciously achieved a transatlantic status, presently working on projects both sides of the ocean. Cause’s release ‘New Golden Era’ boasted 2 ‘Real-Bigg’ beats; club hit ‘Clear It Out’, and the stellar ‘Banga!’, which not only received high acclaim across the internet but also soared to no. 1 in the Ourstage charts earlier this year. Tosh Cantel’s imminent debut release will include several of Murray’s works; none more sublime than the lead single ‘Do You Like The Way It Feels’. Up-tempo, aggressive and slick, the pair perfectly combine Atlanta swagger and European panache. Now available to download, the DJ favourite looks set to be a dance-floor smash. Although indefinitely postponed, the No-Way & Real-Bigg EP ‘No-Bigg Deal’, will, at some point, be unleashed online. The project, originally due to hit streets in summer ’07, contains exceptional examples of what the UK ‘urban’ scene is craving. The versatility on view is unrivalled, No-Way resurfaces real rap over hard hip-hop tracks in the epic ‘Rap Casanova’ & funk influenced ‘Bring It On Down’. Biggs uses ‘Chamber Music’ to exhibit his autodidactic ability to unify samples with his own music, No-Way laces this with relentless multiples, (“I rep the wicked west where sniggering snakes slither best / I’m sicker than sticking your dick in a chick with syphilis”) yes, you’re guaranteed to reach for the rewind button. “I figure my comfort zone is cars and clubs” If this is the case then Murray is certainly against the proverbial grain with the piano-ballad styled ‘Hip-Hop Gangstaz’ and street anthem, ‘London City’. The latter lays down a laid back beat over a catchy piano line. No-Way and singer Sylvester draw inspiration from a Ransom verse to draft a new postcard. (“It’s not all crumpets, nor tea, biscuits or trumpets / phone boxes, soldiers with muskets”) Other tracks on the EP include stories ‘Maneater’ and ‘Giro Song’, juxtaposed bangers ‘Weekend’s Coming’, ‘Crack’s Fashionable’ and ‘Stand As A Man’. Upon founding the company ‘Winterman Music Ltd.’ Murray Biggs has promised a release of his own: ‘Winterman&Co.’ “I’ve put together 7 or 8 hot, hot songs, it really knocks, I’ve definitely approached the EP from a club perspective.” ‘Winterman&co.’ is currently under construction and should be available before the end of the year. One song from the EP is ‘One Night Man’, a dance influenced R&B/rap track that is accessible on Murray Biggs’ myspace page. It features Macadan Moses, B. Money, Tosh Cantel and Kidd Ivee of Dangerous Minds. At 5’11” Murray Biggs is not tall, he is ‘Real-Bigg’, and potentially huge.
