Earlier this century, 60's and 70's style rock'n'roll made a big comeback, so on and so forth. Popular music is a big revolving door.Ant, lead singer/guitarist of Australian-based My Empires, took it upon himself to take a music project in another direction. Not reverting to retro rock, not regressing to post punk, not searching through last century's catalogue of genres to copy... and definitely not setting out to continue and encourage the world's obsession with four-on-the-floor, 16th beat hi-hats and vox similar to Ian Curtis. My Empires is swirly, fuzz driven, triumphant. Sure, they have their favourite records, but they are by no means trying to appeal to your sense of what's "now"... Not to say they are pretentious assholes either. Just four guys with an obsessive need for stomping on their fuzz distorions pedals every time they wield a guitar. Hey, it's not their fault.
