Biography: Drummer Nick "Reckless" Pultz
As far back as he can remember, Nick Pultz has felt quite at ease reinventing his favorite drum beats, synchronizing his influences with his own reliable musical ear, producing sounds and rhythms that have kept enthusiastic fans filling the variety of venues he plays in. The Jersey native spent his early years as drummer for the progressive rock band Royden, once signed with Hopeless Records. As a member of Royden, Pultz toured the world opening for a number of esteemed bands. Extensive exposure, early in his career, gave him the privilege of playing in front of receptive crowds night after night, opportunities that allowed him to fine-tune his style, resulting in the unforgettable stage presence he has today.
Inspired by musicians who had been dazzling audiences long before him—Buddy Rich, Neil Peart, and Travis Barker to name a few—Nick (known also to his fans by his stage name “Reckless”) collaborated with renowned DJ Paul Nyce to form Nyce-N-Reckless, a duo that has developed an avid following on the east coast. Though his repertoire as a club performer is revered by fans and fellow musicians, he has never shied away from challenging the conventions of the craft, using years of knowledge and practice to distinguish his trademark sound, and, not surprisingly, gaining acclaim for his work ethic.
In a surprise invitation-only concert in 2007, Pultz shared the stage with Briana Taylor and her band. (Taylor is a cast member of the hit television show The Real World, Hollywood.) His performance that night not only impressed the actress but also earned him a position in her group as a regular collaborator. He and Taylor will be in the studio working on various projects. Nick Pultz has aspirations of becoming a more refined, more complex musician, an artist who works tirelessly to sustain his fame as an innovator amongst his peers. Eager to take on more gigs as a session player or as a studio drummer, he prides himself on his willingness to adapt to the dynamics and demands of any set. His ability to learn new songs with little rehearsal and play them before a live audience has bestowed on him clout in the music business. This, Nick would say, is his proudest accomplishment over a long yet still young career.
Fans can find him on the road touring New Jersey with two popular rock-n-roll bands, Abandoned (cover band) and Alamance (original rock band). On off nights he drums along side DJ Paul Nyce in Nyce-N-Reckless and DJ Damien Anthony, mesmerizing crowds with the hottest mash-ups.
