A charismatic and cocky rapper from the Midwest, Northwest Indiana, Z.A.Y. started his mark in the industry in 2009 with his hit single titled “Bad Boyz” which was the first song he has ever written with the help of his Californian producer “Aaddict”, he is currently independently signed to his own record label King of Club Records, he is now establishing himself as a successful solo artist, he is growing to become a popular critical favorite by many on the net, “Bad Boyz” has already received more than 50,000 plays on the internet alone. Born Larry I. Ford, Jr., on June 4, 1991, in Merrillville, IN, Z.A.Y. grew up on the Westside neighborhood of Gary. Z.A.Y. started rhyming at the tender age of five, that’s when his mother knew that her child would have a future in music, but not until his 17th birthday, would Z.A.Y. have the chance to express himself musically. Z.A.Y. had hard times in high school; he was considered a poor student with a low G.P.A., and his senior year in high school he would get kicked out of school because of faulty allegations of him participating in an illegal street game. Students and his teachers knew that Z.A.Y. wasn’t even gang material, so they questioned the school’s principal, but in the end know one would get answers. Z.A.Y. had fallen into a great depression, he didn’t have many friends and his license was taking away, so on weekends he had nothing to do, “I remember at one time I would just stare at this wall in my house for hours trying to figure out my next move.” Z.A.Y. cites one of his favorite authors, Napoleon Hill, which states “when you reach a bottomless pit, your life will start to go up,” Not until the end of the year 2008 would Z.A.Y. life start to go “up” and he find his true calling in the world. “I was so tired of listen to these local radio stations play the same thing over and over, so I thought to myself why not make some songs that you can listen to instead. Z.A.Y. would go online to find beats on the internet and there he would meet one of the most talented producers/rappers. “At first he would ignore my messages I sent him on Myspace,” he says jokingly, “but I wasn’t going to give up, I kept bother him by sending him messages until one day he wrote me back, and that’s was when the rapper Z.A.Y. was born.” He choose the name “Zay” or “Z.A.Y.” because his middle name, Isaiah, derives from that name. Z.A.Y.’s journey has just begun, his album, which is currently untitled, is set for release late 2010.
