To understand what is OF REALITY BEYOND we must make a leap five years ago at the very beginning. At first i twas an idea originating from the mind of Martin Poirier who wished to put together a metal band with a unique sound in a metal scene where metal bands sounded oftenly much alike. As a quatuor at first, Martin brought ideas of a kind of metal to the other members (André Bricault on guitar, Guillaume Emond on bass and Éric Deshaies on drums) where many influences were mixed together to create a very distinctive sound. Bands like Amorphis, Opeth, Slayer, Trouble, Black Sabbath, The Ozric Tentacles and Porcupine Tree (to name a few) served as a canvass to the creative process. As a result, the songs had catchy riffs, agressiveness, emotion and many movements to support the lyrics wich were inspired by the creation of all living things surrounding us. Also authors like H. P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe and Clive Barker paved the way lyrically and musicaly. After having done several shows, a fan base was established. The band then decided to record a self-produced demo called THE AGE OF COSMIC DISBELIEF which was released in 2005. Eventhough the recording was not of high quality, it showed the diversity of the band’s sound and musicianship. The band continued with their shows and the response was still very positive. But Eric, the crummer, couldn’t meet the time requirement of the band so he decided to leave. A new drummer was hired and brought a different style to the band’s sound. Well, too different se we decided he was not fit. Then came along Martin Langlois, a drummer with less finess but with a lot of power so the songs got heavier. But after a short while behind the drums, he also decided to quit. So OF REALITY BEYOND was again without a drummer. But bad news never come alone, Guillaume the bassman decided i twas the time for him to expand his musical experience and left the band to do some musical exploration. OF REALITY BEYOND was now searching for a drummer and a bassist. After 3 months of unsuccesful research, Martin, the founder of the band, decided to put a stop on the project and wait to see what he will do next. He founded another band called ATOMIC MONK but this time with a stoner-rock approach. But 6 months later, OF REALITY BEYOND was still in his thoughts and just thinking that many songs were never recorded made him take a new decision. He left ATOMIC MONK and concentrated on OF REALITY BEYOND but as solo project. He began the colossal task of recording these new songs in his studio (Mythos Studio). All went well and some of the new songs were put online for everyone to listen. Comments were most flattering. But it was a slow process having to record all of the instruments, re-arranging the songs, mixing and mastering. So after nearly six months of recording, it all paid off. An indi label from the Netherlands (Zikte-NL) noticed the project and made an offer… So now begins the adventures of OF REALITY BEYOND. The first official album of the project should be released in spring 2009… Welcome to a reality that comes from beyond…OF REALITY BEYOND is solo project from Quebec city.
