Trigga’s childhood was anything but easy. After growing up in one of the worst neighborhoods in Carol City, experiencing his brother’s death and watching his best friend get shot and coming from a single-parent home where it wasn’t unusual to go days without food, the Miami-based rapper clings to music to make it through life. Music brings him hope. “Everything I went through makes me keep going,” says Trigga, who credits Tupac and his mother as two of his major influences. “I know music is my only way out. “ Although Trigga encountered people in his life who tried to discourage him from following his dream, that just motivated him even harder to pursue what he feels most alive doing– making music. At the same time, Trigga’s drive comes from his best friend who told him he had what it took to make it big in the music industry. “He died the day after he told me that,” Trigga explained. “But I remember his words everyday.” Trigga creates extraordinary hip-hop music. Period. But he certainly doesn’t limit himself to one genre of music, which helps to attract a diverse community of fans and listeners. He’s not to be mistaken to be just your typical rapper but a songwriter and lyricist. He allows the beat to speak and is out to bring change with his music. The all-around artist strives for his music to be fresh, unique and real. Understanding his gift comes from God, he takes his musical gift seriously. “The most powerful thing in your body is the tongue,” Trigga says. Once on stage, the transformation begins. His raw talent releases an infectious energy to the audience. He “doesn’t eat before I go on stage because it makes me hungrier for the crowd,” Trigga says. His career in music essentially began at 18 when he performed his first time on stage at a Battle of the Bands show in Churchills, a Miami pub. And just four years later, he’s opened up for well-known artists, such as Keshia Cole, Busta Rhymes, DMX, Fat Joe, Snoop Dogg and Mario, to just name a few. Trigga appeared live on BET’s “106 and Park: WOW,” where he performed and won with over 147,000 votes, to where that minute and forty seconds on T.V. was another indicator and motivation to continue of to follow his goal. “I felt alive,” he says.
