OPI was born in Washington D.C May 6,1974 where he grew up in Southeast, Washington DC area. he's been into music most of his life since the age of 10 years old. OPI was born in Washington D.C May 6,1974 where he grew up in Southeast, Washington DC area. he's been into music most of his life since the age of 10 years old. He started out singing in the school choir, that's when he knew he had a nitch for music. In 1988 Opi picked up playing keyboards and started playing in a local GO-GO band for several years. In 1992 Opi started singing with a local singing group called Rated R. Opi went on and produced all of the music for the group and co wrote some of the songs. Rated R released there first CD self entitled RATED R. Rated R traveled up & down the east coast performing as an opening act for various well known artist such as Mad Lion, comedian Tracey Morgan, R&b artist Case to name a few. After a few years, one of the group members left & was replaced & then they renamed the group BLACK DIAMOND 1995, the group Rated R was no more. After finishing BLACK DIAMOND album, the group went back on the road promoting the CD. The CD sold 5,000 copies in the stores and another 3,000 out of the trunk & hand to hand. BLACK DIAMOND started traveling around the united states performing as an opening for various well know artist such as Jagged edge, Carl Tomas, 112, comedian Mike Epps, sung star spangled banner at many CBA Basketball tournaments, By this time Opi has polished up on his Producing, writing & arranging skills, and picked up along the way such as mixing & mastering. NOW HE HAS FINISHED HIS FIRST SOLO ALBUM ENTITLED Opi Project WHICH HE WROTE, PRODUCED, ARRANGED MIX AND MASTERED HIMSELF
