Recent review of my cd "About Time" by www.earBuzz.com: From the initial guitar rift of "Within"; the opener to Paul Cronin's About Time, one thing is clear: Cronin is about rock-n-roll. More specifically, Cronin seems to be paying homage to classic 80's heavy metal and, what could have been considered alt-rock. His voice sounds a bit like Ozzy here. "Sing that Favorite Song" is more of a ballad. The sound is two parts acoustic Guns & Roses, one part Mr. Big, with a dash of the Doobie Brothers. "Summer Skies" is his quintessential lovers lament song, with airy guitars and more light-hearted vocals (giving it the appropriate seasonal feeling). "Plan B" takes you back to the 80's with its soaring, heavy guitars and vintage-sounding synth lines. The sound here can be found on any jukebox in any rock-n-roll bar. Cronin also gets his King Crimson on with "Everybody"; though it's a bit more mellow than Crimson, the familiar sway is there. He's even got a bit of a Deep Purple vibe here as well. The aptly titled "In Closing" provides more soaring guitar work, and comes complete with early Van Halen sounding keyboards (think the melody lines from "Jump"). 80's rock fans: Check out Paul Cronin.
