When he was in Sixth Grade, he decided to try singing. His mother, Trina Runner, figured that he should do more singing. In Eighth Grade, Randy went back to do guitar lessons from a gal named, Diane Perry. It wasn't until his Sophomore year in High School he decided to try to make a career out of it. He started to write music when he was in Seventh Grade. His first song he wrote was with his cousin, Allison Clarke, called, "You're My Everything". Then he started to write more songs about cowboy life, and rodeos. Him and a friend of his, Cody Stahl, started the band called, "The MidWest Rebels". In that band, Randy sang duets with Austin Genzlinger, 2nd lead vocal of "The MidWest Rebels". The group played in bars, coffee shops, talent shows, and other venues, across Eastern South Dakota. Randy graduated high school in 2008, the band relocated in Brookings, SD, where the members came for college at "South Dakota State University". Randy started to take guitar lessons from Gary Snow, Lead Guitar of "Dustin Evans and Good Times". In early 2009 the group signed with Illumina Records and Promotions. In late 2009 the group fell apart and he started going solo. When he went solo, he performed for acts like Dustin Evans and Good Times, and Sherwin Linton. He has a four track album out now.
