To describe “Reno” to any music fan in its simplest terms, would be to say that it is a fresh and melodic Pop/Rock sound that's been waiting to happen. Located in Toronto, Canada, this 6 piece band has all of the assets in place to make an immediate and long lasting impact on the international music scene. The band is comprised of Reno Silva on lead vocals and guitar, Daniel Gama on guitar and backing vocals, Kevin Dworak on guitar and backing vocals, Carlos Arevalo on bass guitar and backing vocals, Paulo Gama on piano, keyboards and backing vocals and finally on drums and percussion is Mike Demelo. With their debut CD released in July of 2004, the band entered into a busy schedule with various large-scale outdoor festivals across Toronto as well as tours across Europe & Eastern United States. The noise produced from the album and the touring would be enough to get on the ears and mouths of prominent industry personnel. The end of 2007 brought about the advent of the band’s newest release. The album was to be piloted by world-renowned producer Steve Thompson (Guns & Roses, Duran Duran, Metallica, Korn, Jet, etc.), who endorsed the band’s sound and vision, thus electing to come on board to produce, mix and arrange the entire album now titled “Learning to Speak Human” with Steve Chahley (Nelly Furtado, Autopilot Off, etc.) as the engineer. This album defines the epitome of what the Reno sound is with a 13 song offering. It is an incredibly big sounding recording with many songs catering to many emotions - the basis of everyday life. “Learning to Speak Human” is an album made not only for the moment, but made with the aspirations that the songs will endure and remain timeless due to an honesty and substance within the music, with radio-ready hooks laced all over the album, allowing for any music fan to digest what the band has to say. In February of 2007, the band entered into its first partnership with sound tech and tour manager Denton Fraser (Bryan Adams, Oasis, Foo Fighters, Rolling Stones, etc.). With Denton on board, they set out on a return 21-day mini promo tour to Portugal, which included some 23 very well received shows and well over 8,000 kilometers. The band then found itself returning home to finish mastering the CD, and beginning to shoot for the band’s first ever music video - “1984”. To close out 2007, the band implemented a full-scale internet marketing campaign on popular websites such as Myspace and Facebook, including community pages for various territories world-wide. This had an immediate impact on traffic to their site with irrefutable numbers - Renosmusic.com now sees an average flow of over 1,000,000 hits to the site per month from all over the world. Having peeked the interest of fans and industry personnel from around the globe, the demand is well founded with the fact that the band has signed deals in Australia and New Zealand with Red Disc Records, as well as in Korea, China, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates and Egypt with SSG Records. The summer of 2008 saw the band open for Finger Eleven ushering in a new Canada / US deal, which would ultimately lead to having the band take on new management with MCJB Entertainment in 2009. Promotional tours and appearances for all of these signed territories are imminent and in the process of being arranged. The ending of 2009 led to the long awaited release of the album in Portugal. Another 22 day Portugal tour followed the release with the band selling out CD’s across many of the FNAC stores as well as an extensive media campaign covering 23 TV & radio stations across the country. With tours to Portugal & France planned for 2010, the band looks to build upon the buzz it started with the release of the video & single “U”. Throughout all of this phenomenal activity currently talking place, management continues to entertain many negotiations within other parts of the world. With major announcements yet to be made official, there is a growing sense that it is only a matter of time before this band is a mainstay amongst today’s popular bands.
