Rootbeer originaly formed in 1997, officialy, with drummer Kyle Pesonen and bassist Danny Simon, and singer/guitarest Chris Pe dergraft. They set out to record "a motel thats's burning..." at Barley Studios and finally finished in 1998. They released "motel" in 99, a sold like 12 copies. But we gave away 600. They set out to record "a motel thats's burning..." at Barley Studios and finally finished in 1998. They released "motel" in 99, a sold like 12 copies. But we gave away 600. Prior to "Motel" they recorded "candy" , a record layered with far too many effects to release. So Motel was their attempt at a theme album, a heartbreak record. They continued on to explore many different genres adding members as they went. They are based in Oakland, California and focus mostly these days on recording and digital distribution.
