SKE Biography Ske’s fresh now hood style is destine to make its mark in the music industry and earn this smooth “original rapper” his due respect. His voice and his style is a very different sound. You can hear the struggles, the hardships, the trials and tribulations. If you ask him what inspires him about certain songs, Ske’s response is “Mississippi life.” The talented writer and rapper, born Anthony Gordon, has been in love with music and writing songs since 1990. “NO ICE NO CHAIN,” was the first song Ske wrote after he was honorably discharged from 4 years of the U.S. Army. The song takes a look at a lot of rappers who got deals and changed and didn’t stay true to their self. He is simply stating that with his chain on or off he is still loyal to his hood. “I use music that has an effect on everyone, but by no means do I rap fairy tale.” Ske promises “I rap about life, and the struggles North Mississippi puts you thru; no jobs nobody given you nothing. You learn that in high school. You get a dose of the real world early.” He left Abbeville in 2001 after seeing two of his brothers go to prison; for the same lifestyle he grew up around. Ske says “it was either go to jail or get as far away from the Abbeville streets as possible.” He chose option two. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and got station in Germany for three years. Although thousands of miles away from Abbeville Ske love for music continued to grow. He did shows for many of the local bars in Germany. Discharged from the army in 2005 he returned back to Abbeville, Ms. The economy was still bad so he found himself doing the same things that made him leave in 2001. He left again in 2007.He moved to Houston, TX. He met a producer by the name of Papa Reu. He has been producing all his music since. “It was funny at first recording with a real producer,” Ske says. “He made sure everything was perfect.” “I’ve been writing since I was a kid and I don’t think a true artist can give his songs to someone else and expect them to have the exact feeling,” he says. Ske’s rapping style is refreshingly versatile. The voice and style? It works!
