Small Town Son makes country music by mixing the backbeat of Waylon, the fiddle of Charlie, the twang of Reed, and the sound of real country life. Based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the 5-piece country rock band tours throughout the midwest, Tennessee, and the occasional jaunt through the rest of the US of A. But no matter how far from home the band might get, one thing is always the same: the music is made for the people, by the people. Whether its rocking and cranking the Fender Twin, or piercing through with perfect harmony, this band brings it for the people that made us. Cause thats who country music belongs to; not the radio, not the record exec, but to the farmer, the mechanic, the school kid, the rebel, the brokenhearted, and the lonely. It started with Dan and Kris in a broken house trailer is southern Michigan, playing along to classic country and starting a foundation of original songs and live performance that always got the crowd involved. Ian made his way into that group with his musical skill and guitar talent, and quickly became not just a quick as lightening guitar player but also a great addition to the songwriting. Bill Justice was the drummer Kris had been hoping for, someone with a rock background and a love for the outlaw and classic country sounds. You always need a rock solid foundation, and that's exactly what Billy "the bear" Justice brings to every beat. Susan Belliel is the kind of fiddle player that stops people in their tracks and makes you remember why it's one of the most dynamic instruments in country music. She can transform the rock country into a piece of art, and bring tears to your eyes in an old ballad. After playing in different country acts throughout southwest Michigan, Susan has found her home with Small Town Son. The one thing that sets STS apart, though, are the songs written for the people. The first album "burning good rubber", is a collection of songs written for the hardworking people of Michigan, in a depressed economy and their backs against the wall. Country music has always been a way to speak to that mind, and by being true to their roots and saluting the people who helped them everyday, Small Town Son made a record that every fan can relate to.
