Never wanting to be a Michael Jordan, I looked up to John Starks, one of the players on the knicks, crazy right? Never really wanting to be the best rapper just most consistent. Coming from a background of emcees I inevitably fell in love with rapping. At first it was something I did for fun but as time progressed it started to take over my life like an addiction.
The first group I was in was called cypha; it consisted of one of my brothers and a few friends. But after high school people went there separate ways and didn’t seem serious about careers in music. So I also chose to move on and try to live like the general public. I end up meeting up with another friend of mine from high school. He was in the studio alot working on an album as well as doing shows. So we started a group called Pimp Game Hustlers and went by the names Avalanche and Eruption. But our friendship came to an eruption when a female was involved and we had to go our separate ways and do our own things for awhile. So after we fell out I basically started writing like never before. Putting all my time, effort and money into trying to be successful in something I love to do. Through out the years I had many different names Aqualove, Nubian nut, Avalanche and Killa Keem. As time progressed and my associate and I amended our differences. He finished his album up in 2004 and we did short tours throughout Ohio. But once again we both had different plans for the future.
So I started on my first mix tape, The Casanova Mix tape with features from artist like Choir Boy, Jalisa from C.N.T.O. Productions and Bella Balla. Production was done by Killatainment. When completed I felt that I wanted more and with the right team behind me I could do more. So my brother Kareem a.k.a. Bella Balla was in the studio Working on a mix tape and getting some quality material. So I asked him to introduce me to his producer and I met Al Money CEO of State of Emergency Records. First I was paying for studio time, and then as tracks were done and I seen he had the same ambitions as me I asked him if he would like to work together. Al Money has worked with a lot of local artist out of Cleveland and had a lot of professionalism about his business and company. So we inked a short term deal to get my career started and I have never looked back. My Name is Hakeem Love Sharif, I’m 27 years old, I’m a Shining Star in a galaxy of artist either burned out or fading away. I don’t want to get in the game, I want to change the game with something unique as well as Entertaining. State Of Emergency is the label, my name is Nova!
