In the crowded shuffle of everyone trying to be something other than themselves, it could be easy to overlook a statement of talent coming from an individual that could be a next door neighbor or another passenger on the subway. The Bronx's own SunILL NaREIGN aka HeCtiK aims to erase the cloud of anonymity that he was raised under through his childhood and teenage years, and has his sights set on altering the landscape of the rap game in the manner that only legends command with their presence. However,to comprehend SunILL's drive towards rap domination would be somehow incomplete without knowing the tale of a Bronx native who tested his talent during a lunchroom freestyle session as a child. Born of Puerto Rican and Guyanese descent in the South Bronx and raised in Adams Houses, SunILL took many of what he experienced in the streets of New York to the rhymes that would later define his style. The addition of his mixed culture and heritage provided the type of insight that the average person could never understand. Still, it was apparent that he was destined to stand out from the rest of the crowd. And considering his immediate surroundings, SunILL knew from childhood that there were few avenues to escape the trappings the street life was eager to offer. As a youth he penned his first rap during junior high school, but quit rhyming two years later because he was unimpressed with the material he was producing. But like all great loves, SunILL was drawn to the combination of mixing a crafted flow with the vivid imagination a life on the streets of the South Bronx generated. From his own daily dealings, to witnessing life firsthand, SunILL began to realize what his true calling might actually be. He chose to pick up the mic again and reunite with the one natural skill he knew was all his own. The untouchable flow he became responsible for earned him a reputation from the school yards to the staircases of the housing project he called home as a youth. A breakthrough performance in front of a packed auditorium as a junior high school student solidified his rep as a rising talent. Along with age came a wealth of knowledge, and the itch to rap prompted SunILL to tighten his flow in high school to keep his name buzzing in the streets. He was known for freestyling at the drop of a dime, spitting consecutive flows minute after minute, never stopping, just capturing the essence of the moment. The news of the damage he was capable of doing spread through the area and the attention he and his friends attracted, let the group forming a clique called A.T.F in 1998. Things weren't serious for the crew at first, just some friends doing graffiti and making the transition from adolescents to young men. The group later swelled to 14 members deep, (Hectik, Kwiz, Cashdro, Lecks, Stress, BLACK Diamond, Korleone, DVS, Kreep, Whats His Name?, DJ Droopy, Konstant, Killawhatz and Kasique) and decided to make rap a priority. But things changed, people grew, and by his high school graduation, the crew SunILL called family shrunk in size as some members left the state to attend college, a few joined the military, while others just fell out of touch. SunILL later found a comrade in the form of friend 730, who he had known since their elementary school days. They lost contact as kids, but found each other as adults in the name of Hip Hop. From there, endless brainstorming sessions turned into ideas, which eventually led to their mixtape, Lords of the Green present Hectik The Scouting Report. The rest became another chapter in rap history, as the alliance between Hectik and 730, spread to the stage, as Hectik performed shows throughout the city at venues like The Remote Lounge, BBQ's, and Club NY in Middleton New York, where he opened up for Wu-Tang. He even won a rap battle and was presented a trophy, where the legendary DJ Kool Herc was a judge. Still, the journey for SunILL was in its infancy. In the years since his real life turned to a rap life, SunILL was featured in Rap Fanatic Magazine,Music Notes Magazine, performed in the 2004 Puerto Rican day Parade, made guest spots on radio stations 91.9 FM, 90.3 FM, WAND Wheels of Steel Radio, and had much more in store for the future. SunILL makes routine trips to the studio to keep up with the demand for his material. His "A War of Words" mixtape set the bar even higher in his quest to be among the legends of the rap game.
