May 20th, 2010 For the last few months I’ve been working on the debut album of my band SunShine Lemonade. A couple of weeks ago during planned recording time I was feeling frustrated about all of the oil that is being “spilled” into the Gulf of Mexico, and I felt a strong desire to do something. However, I have too many responsibilities where I’m at to just run down there and volunteer, and I don’t have a whole lot of extra money laying around to support in a financial way. A day or two before I’d been playing around on the piano and a little progression and melody had started to form. So, I sat down and out of that feeling of ‘helplessness to help’ a song (from the p.o.v. of a fish about to be swallowed up by the oil) was born. All of the proceeds from the song are being donated to organizations that are actively working to rescue and support the wildlife that are being affected by this tragedy in the Gulf of Mexico.
