BIOGRAPHY This dynamic singer/songwriter is fast gaining recognition in the Boulder/Denver music scene with her captivating and soulful performances. Though only 15, Tayler Denae's professional resume includes performing as a lead vocalist in an adult rock band; lead singer in a hip-hop female trio; and performing both as a solo artist and lead singer for an R&B/alternative rock band in Boulder. ______________________________________________________________ Her performances range from intimate coffee house settings to crowds of 3,000+ and include such notable local venues as: PennyLane, RedFish, Nissi's, Rock N Soul; the Nomad Theatre and the Boulderado Hotel. Most recently, Tayler Denae was a guest performer at the Colorado Hip Hop Festival. ______________________________________________________________ In her own words, Tayler Denae states that she "found her voice and love of songwriting" at age 11 when she wrote and recorded her first CD "Free". She shares, "I'm currently in the process of growing my song writing from alternative rock ballads, which are easy to write on guitar or piano, to more complex hip-hop arrangements, creating and arranging every sound, every track. I enjoy the challenge of producing songs under a deadline. I'll get inspired by a chord or a word and the song will literally write itself." ______________________________________________________________ She pays homage to the influences in her musical artistry. She relates, "there are many artists that have inspired me for different reasons. One of the main influences came to me by accident. Though I grew up in a suburban community where everyone listened to rock, the moment I first heard old school Motown, it was as if a lightening bolt had connected with my soul. I listened to everything that I could get my hands on - Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder. There's an almost primal energy in this music, the bass in funk, drums and beats and melodies, it just resonates with my own my musical soul. She laughs, I was the only white girl in the gospel choir at the Denver School of the Arts! Reggae, Latin, African, Bob Marley is one of my favorite artists. But I also love and admire artists who are unique and know who they are like Imogen Heap and Lily Allen - I admire their authenticity - and Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake and Madonna for their ability to keep reinventing themselves. I respect the fact that they've held tight to their creative control. They understand the marketing component of this business." ______________________________________________________________ Others in the local music scene have described Tayler Denae as one of the most hard working, focused, and passionate young musicians in the area. Though now developing a strong studio craft, it is her live performances and stage presence that sets her apart from most performers her age. "She comes alive on stage and takes command of the space like a seasoned professional" said one local producer, "that she's also a songwriter, is icing on the cake. In her spare time, she teaches and mentors other young artists with a local vocal school. She plays guitar and piano and is intent on learning the technical components of recording, arranging, mixing, and editing. ______________________________________________________________ Currently, Tayler Denae is working with New York producer Chris Johnson. She recently completed a three track demo which was produced by Chris Johnson (executive producer) and Aaron Johnson, the producer of The Fray, at AAJA studios in New York. She had the opportunity to work with New York studio musicians as well as "Doc" who has done vocal arrangement with everyone from Chris Brown to Celene Dion to Michael Jackson. ______________________________________________________________ "I'm just so grateful to everyone that has helped me develop my craft and pursue my musical dream. She credits her first vocal coach Monica Augustine of WildFlower School Of Voice and Dr. Scott Martin of the Academy of the Arts (Denver) and choreographer Tom West of Phenomenon Entertainment. "I thank God for my gifts, and my mom for her unconditional support and management savvy. Music is my life."
