Shade plays honest and catchy pop/rock. Their style has been likened to the Velvet Underground, Belle and Sebastian, and Cat Power. Their debut album Highway (April, 2010) is both polished and raw, with evocative lyrics, warm textures and simple arrangements. The album was produced by friend Tim Vesely (Rheostatics, Violet Archers) and recorded at the Tragically Hip's Bathouse studios on the shores of Lake Ontario, Canada.
