The Blamers are a new band out of Chicago, IL comprised of independent artists Paint and the History of the Western Death Thing, along with their friends Molly Shanahan, Jay Wheeler, and Luke Willson. Their unique sound is a blend of Indie, Folk and Alternative and their influences include The Grateful Dead, Radiohead, Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles and, of course, Vanilla Ice.
The Blamers incorporate any instrument they can get their hands on, so each of their songs is interesting and different, kind of like snowflakes and pigeons. Paint would describe their sound as “music in the mode of Indie Rock infused with the spirit of Classic Rock.” The talent and energy of these artists really shines through in a live performance as they swiftly switch instruments and run through their repertoire of unique songs. The Blamers are quickly making friends and fans as they play around Chicago at such venues as Sylvie’s and O’Malley’s. You can also see them at the upcoming Effit Fest, July 11 in Osseo, WI.
The group got together after discovering that they had a mutual love of good music, good pizza and crappy reality TV. They are currently unsigned and do all of their own recordings.
