Only a cello, a guitar, a female voice, and some special guests, their painstakingly detailed song arrangements marry the clarity and cohesion that is only possible with a well-polished trio to the vibrant intensity of a symphony orchestra. The storytelling is from the modern perspective of an emotionally-engaged youth, sometimes scoffing and shocking, sometimes heartbreaking and naked. Grace Rowland's voice is gorgeous, her words intelligent and deliberate. It is gathering momentum quickly among a bursting scene of music-lovers and musicians, artists and poets, and clerks and clergy alike. With a huge grassroots following in Austin, The Blue Hit has been touring the album across the country and gathering a substantial fan base in every city they visit. The scene is born from a love for more than music: it is for theatre, for poetry, and for the stark-raving purity of every art form under the sky. Move In is The Blue Hit's debut album, and a first for all three artists in the band. Emerging from a background scene inundated with traditional folk, blues, classical, and Americana, they found each other yearning for something refreshing and yet unheard of. Grounded in folk philosophy, the music embraces theatrical storytelling, bohemian creative communities, stripped-down simplicity, and starlit acoustic concerts set deep in the woods. Yet it shies away from traditional musical structure, playing with modal scales and unpredictable melodies that please the ears and arouse the soul. The effect is captivating; the album moves through a vast range of moods and tells a thousand stories.
