The Envy League started in Grand Rapids, MI in 2005 as a pop rock outfit looking to incorporate the myriad of tastes that each member brought to the table. The goal was not to just write a song with a hook, but also be able to add a level of musicianship not often achieved by bands in pop music today. Formed by Justin Smith and D.Lindsay Mouatt, the band took off with Jamel Taylor on bass replacing a long time friend of the band Troy Wiegand. Soon after The Envy League would record their first album effort Seasons In Stereo. The nature of the sound required a second guitar player, but that person also needed to be able to handle writing and performing several moderately difficult key parts, enter Jake Van Ravensway. With Justin Smith on drums and D.Lindsay Mouattt on vocals and lead guitar the band was finally solidified and ready to complete the album and start playing live. Through half of 2008 and most of 2009, the band embarked on creating Seasons all on their own. The entire album was written, performed, recorded and mixed by the band in their self built studio, Front Street Sound. Mastering was done by Dana White from Specialized Mastering. With the record complete the band started playing out vigorously and self promoting the album and merchandise via the web and at shows. The Envy League is a hard working band looking to take the next step in their professional music careers.
