Having been friends and written music throughout high school and college, Charlie Scott and Dave Kim returned home to New Jersey from the world of academia in the summer of 2006 to get back into their songwriting habits with their newfound freedom. Their friend Mike Saffert, who had also shared the stage and studio with them over the years, returned to NJ after recording a second LP with his band Hidden In Plain View. While Dave and Charlie were recording some of their songs, Mike stopped by just to hang and ended up layin’ down some rad badical riffs. With new songs recorded, and the power of rock burning deep within their bellies, they summoned the low-end skillz of long time friend Jolly Ubriaco. With a lineup solidified, The Farm League leapt forth to moisten the collective musical palette. With influences ranging from Jimmy Eat World and The Promise Ring to 60’s pop and Johnny Cash, The Farm League didn’t want to be pigeon holed into one specific sound. “We don’t like to limit ourselves to one genre, but hope that in tackling difference nuances and styles our sound and individual influences will come through” states singer/guitarist C.F. Scott. The band began practicing heavily to prepare for live performances. In the fall they relocated to Brooklyn, NY and their live debut soon followed the next month at Fat Baby. While penning a bevy of songs in their apartment, The Farm League continued to play shows around New York City. In January 2007, Hidden In Plain View called it quits and The Farm League received full custody of Mike. In April, Jolly parted ways to pursue his other band, Faster Than Fashion, on a full time scale. The Farm League now has a sizeable and varied catalogue of songs and is continuing to perform live as well as continue to write and record new tunes in Dave’s studio. With these songs and recordings, the band hopes to have a formal release of material this fall/winter.
