THE MAGNOLIA MOUNTAINS rose from the ashes in early 2008 inspired by intimate folk music with a heavy pop twist. Styles, Christian, and Fever formed HARD LUCK STORIES in 2006 with thoughts of keeping music quiet and simple. Being a three-piece of piano, guitar, and vocals, they recorded their debut EP in 2007 as a four song take on broken hearts and dreams. HLS realized they had an extreme flair for organic-inspired music, but had an itch to fuel the songs with pop rhythms. They started to work on music that was catchy, fun, and yet held their love for music that means something. They decided to start looking for a drummer to fill the void with beats and rhythm. After a long and arduous hunt for a drummer, they finally found Watty out of thin air and fell in love. Since their sound had fully changed, they finished the transition and are now The Magnolia Mountains.
Described as "original" and "not like anyone else," they want to stay true to their differing inspirations and unique sound. The Magnolia Mountains consider their music a mix tape, where each song sounds like something new and fresh. They recently recorded their debut EP and feel it is a step in the right direction to show their versatility, originality, and knack for writing a great song. The EP will be released in September 2008 and be available online and hopefully at a CD store near you.
