Blue Basement, founded in 2005, is a quartet from the young rock culture in Oslo, the capital city of Norway. Defining the band’s genre is hard, experimental indie rock being the closest. Whatever the genre, Blue Basement is known for very powerful live shows and energetic music, and plays mostly on smaller stages for a young audience, but the band is now aiming higher and has recorded a ten track-album and a two track-single that was released in late 2008. Basing the sound on guitars, Blue Basement is definitely a rock band with harsh guitar sound and raw bass. The drummer being a metal head adds even more power to the sound, but the indieish riffs and melodies makes the sound of Blue Basement unique and available for a bigger audience. Also, a synthesizer (Micro Korg) brings the sound to new levels and allows more experimenting, still holding on to the rock sound. Band members are Hanif Kawousi (18) on guitar and vocals, Martin Miguel Almagro Tonne (18) on lead guitar and back-up vocals, Erlend Storsul Opdahl (18) on bass and Petter Nøding (19) on drums. Their instruments are deeply loved as music is a major part of their lives.
