Tryptophan is the solo project of Mike Angus of York, England. Characterised by upbeat, sweeping euphoric melodies and rich, uplifting synth textures, his compositions aim to communicate human emotion through pure music rather than lyrics. Tryptophan is the solo project of Mike Angus of York, England. Characterised by upbeat, sweeping euphoric melodies and rich, uplifting synth textures, his compositions aim to communicate human emotion through pure music rather than lyrics. This primarily focuses upon feelings such as happiness, love and freedom (e.g: Euphoria, Love and Butterfly Psychonaut respectively); aiming to engage and uplift the listener. Much of the music is inspired by, and sometimes written for the artist’s girlfriend, so those who are in love may find the music holds more meaning for them. Currently unsigned and relatively unknown, Tryptophan currently makes his music in his spare time alongside an Electronics degree. He is also the drummer for York-based metal band Pantheon, who currently play small-scale gigs around the UK.
